Speaking of curiosity, I’m really interested to learn about you. I’ve been doing this newsletter for a long time and while I very much welcome it, it is rare to hear from anyone.

A Penny for Your Thoughts?

  2. Hi Mike. We all know the importance of providing feedback, but in our busy lives we too often neglect to do so unless someone asks. Thanks for asking.
    I continue to work on staying as current as I can on new technology, new perspectives, new ways of using old technology, and where this industry is moving to in the future. Learning is changing, and how people learn continues to change and we need to at least try to keep up, if not stay ahead, of it. Your newsletter really helps me do that.
    One of the biggest things I struggle with is time. Not so much time to get work projects done, but time for professional and personal development. Time to keep up with the items I mentioned above. I use an aggregator for sites, blogs and twitters I like to follow (including yours) but carving out the time to go in depth with items of interest is still a struggle. I know that prioritizing and scheduling is key, but life seems to keep getting in the way. 🙂
    I know I’ve shared this with you in the past, but I’m still amazed how you are able to find, gather and share all the items that you do and still have a full time job. It’s fantastic.
    I don’t know what you could do to improve the newsletter. I find it extremely helpful as it is. Just keep doing what you’re doing.

  3. Good morning, Mike.

    As a long-time reader of your newsletter, let me assure you that even though I rarely reply, your newsletters ALWAYS get read. I think your aggregation of relevant ID news & views is one of the best things you do. Every now and then, you are the second time I’ve heard something (since I already subscribe to Connie Malamed, Cathy Moore, Will Thalheimer, and Tom Kuhlman), but more often you are the one who brings things to my attention.

    A little about me, I’m an Education Program Manager for the Supreme Court of Ohio. I landed here after a contract for Change 4 Growth had me on-site for a year and a half. I am half of their online development team and I share widely from your newsletters whenever you post things that will help us do our jobs better. We have attended the COATD’s conferences the last two years and while I didn’t attend your session this year, really appreciated you as the keynote in 2018.

    Just keep doing what you are doing well – compiling and categorizing all the latest news in the e-Learning and ID world and sharing it with the world. We may not say so, but we really appreciate it.

  4. There are so many potential instructional design-like sites & blogs I could keep with, but getting an email inbox full of them, and not being able to get to them all is frustrating. I’ve decided your Friday Finds is one I will continue read as I like your content, especially the Tools & Resources and Upcoming Events sections.

    What am I doing in my work this week?

    – Seeking ways to help candidates for a master’s in Human Resources program without an HR background to obtain a basic foundation of HR knowledge before they begin the program.

    I’m making some progress, thankfully!

  6. Hi Mike,  I like the variety of items you include in your newsletter. Sometimes it is about creating better eLearning, sometimes it’s about typeface, and other times it is an article about recent research.  I am originally a biologist, turned natural resources outreach educator/facilitator, turned Instructional Designer, and now an LMS Administrator with some teaching. I work at a university with a training and organizational development team. I miss creating training and educating/instructing/facilitating those of all ages.  I enjoy your newsletter as it keeps me in the loop. Best,Jenny
