No Coding Required: Now Anyone Can Build a Custom Mobile App

Create Custom Apps - No Coding Required | Mike Taylor

Surf the wave of ‘no code’ apps

I recently found a super slick mobile app creation tool called Glide. It works by presenting data from a Google Sheet in a nicely polished, easy to use app for your smartphone.  In the past, I’ve tried a few others that work similarly, but none of them are anywhere near as easy & fun to work with.  In fact, you can be up and running in less than an hour without the need to code anything at all.

Enough from me. Here is a look at how it works.

Cool, right!?

Let’s take a tour of some actual apps created with Glide. I created this for my Global L&D Conference Calendar in about an hour.

Owen Holt had the fantastic idea of using Glide to create a resume.

Cath Ellis built this amazing portfolio/website

I addition to these examples, I can see this being a great option for many things including:

You can browse other examples on the Glide Apps site.

Once you’ve got your app where you want it, simply share it with a link and you can even publish in to app stores if you want too.

There is a wave of powerful “no code” tools starting to appear. Have you tried Glide or any others? How are you using them and what are your thoughts about them?

What ideas do you have for using an app like this? I’d love to hear about them.

Even better – give it a try and share your link in the comments.

UPDATE: Looks like Mathias Vermuelen also has a post on Glide also. Slide over there to see what he has to say and if you don’t speak Dutch you can use Chrome to handle the translation for you.

  1. Dear Mike,
Thanks for sharing about Glide. We’ve already made a simple app showing different disease symptoms. Am I correct in thinking that Glide only makes ‘web app’ –type apps? In other words, we need to have persistent internet connection for it to work?

    Thanks so much!
